Microformats are designed to be both human and machine readable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microformats are unobtrusive and do not require the developer to change the way they work. The classes <em>fn <\/em>and <em>tel <\/em>are properties of the <strong>hCard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of  microformats are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>hCard:<\/strong> Contact information for individuals or organisations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>hCalendar<\/strong>: Used for calendars or events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>geo<\/strong>: Geographical Coordinates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>hProduct<\/strong>: information about products such as brand, price<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Google, Yahoo!, Yandex and Bing have been collaborating since 2011 with the <strong>schema.org<\/strong> initiative to have a common format for data entities that is understood by all four companies. Initially only the big four search engines had access to the large quantity of formatted microdata crawled together along with the HTML pages. When the Common Crawl Foundation &#8211; a non-profit organisation was formed it started crawling the Web and presenting the formatted data for public usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of the microformat framework enriches search results and  allows entity descriptions within applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">References<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meusel, R., Petrovski, P., &amp; Bizer, C.
